You: Two Reviews

Ever think you're tired of reading the same ol same? We've got something not so new, but definitely different.

When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.

There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.

As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.

Happy New Year

It's officially 2015! New year, new book challenges!

I've made some amazing friends this past and I can't wait to kick off the new year doing a book challenge with some of them!

So without further ado, here's what we'll be reading first.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Told in Kvothe's own voice, this is the tale of the magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen. The intimate narrative of his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, his years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-ridden city, his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, and his life as a fugitive after the murder of a king form a gripping coming-of-age story unrivaled in recent literature. A high-action story written with a poet's hand, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that will transport readers into the body and mind of a wizard

The first book of the challenge needed to be over 500 pages so that is why we choose it (plus it's one of Renee's favorite books and we want to know what all the fuss is about)

Join us for some fun reading this year!!!

Taking things in a new direction!

Ok, so I started this blog because I LOVE to read. Blog, Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram accounts, you name it I stared them all. All for the love of books and to meet like minded people that I could talk to about books. I was all gung-ho at the beginning, signing up for cover reveals and releases; recruiting people to help run this thing and then the unimaginable happened. I burned out. After like a month in a half. The more I thought about it the more I realized this wasn't how I wanted to do things. I just wanted a safe place to go an talk about books openly and honestly. I got wrapped up in a lot of the blogs I see out there and how I perceived a blog "should be run".

F. That. Noise.

I'm gonna do this my way.

I hate writing reviews.

I just want to have conversations about books.

What do you think? Want to join me? We'll have lots of fun.

So, for the new year I'm doing a book challenge. There's about 50 books on this list. A few friends and I are going to buddy read. When we start a new book, I'll announce it here and if you want to join us please do. Once we're finished and have had our discussions I'll come back and give you my thoughts. Chime in whenever you want!

There a good chance I'll read books besides the ones on the list (I'm a fast reader), you can join me on those too if you want.

Happy Reading!!

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon RELEASE and Giveaway

The Law of Moses
Release: 11/27/14

Cover design by: Hang Le

Synopsis:

If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know its coming, and it will hurt. But youll be able to prepare.

Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten oclock news the little baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like hed been broken at birth. I knew that wasnt what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start.

It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.

And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didnt stay away.

And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all...a love story.

The Law of Moses
Pre order Excerpt 1

Why are you here, Georgia? Does your dad know youre here?
Im bringing you your lunch, Einstein. And no to the second question. Why should he? I dont check in every time I ride my horse.
Does he know how youre out here jumping fences?
I shrugged. Ive been riding since I could walk. Its not a big deal.
He let it drop, but after a few bites of his sandwich he was picking on me again.
Georgie Porgie puddin’ and pie. Kissed the boys and made them cry. What kind of name is Georgia?
My great-great grandma was Georgia. The first Georgia Shepherd. My dad calls me George.
Yeah. Ive heard him. Thats just nasty.
I felt my temper rise in my cheeks, and I really wanted to spit on him from where I sat atop my horse, looking down on his neatly shorn, well-shaped head. He glanced up at me and his lips twitched, making me even angrier.
Dont look at me like that. Im not trying to be mean. But George is a terrible name for a girl. Hell, for anyone who isnt the King of England.
I think it suits me,” I huffed.
Oh, yeah? George is the name for a man with a stuffy, British accent or a man in a white, powdered wig. You better hope it doesnt suit you.”
Well, I dont exactly need a sexy name, do I? Ive never been a sexy girl.” I gave Sackett a hard nudge in her flanks and pulled the reins sharply, more than ready to leave. I swore to myself that I wouldnt be bringing Moses his lunch again. He was a jerk, and I was sick of it.
But as I rode away I thought I heard him call after me, Just keep telling yourself that, Georgie Porgie. Ill keep telling myself that too.”
I brought his lunch again the next day.
